Biggest non-EM accomplishment: I have invented and patented multiple high-tech devices and instruments ranging from 3D, high frequency microscopes to medical devices to measure brain consistency; have published multiple papers in international scientific journals and given talks in international conferences; have worked a professor for a couple of years; and even kept bees.

 

If not EM: If not EM I would be an ObGyn or Reproductive Endocrinologist in Infertility specialist or run a AI company

Biggest non-EM accomplishment: I sang the national anthem at my grad school graduation and was featured in a newspaper. 

If not EM: I’d be a police officer or any other part of laws enforcement but working in the field, where all the action is. 

Random fact: I think cereal is the best comfort food. My favorite is Frosted Flakes and Honey Bunches of Oats

Derien Pacetti, MD

Medical School: St. George’s University School of Medicine

Hobbies: I'm passionate about a lot of things that keep life exciting! I'm a proud Hufflepuff and love diving into the magical world of Harry Potter. I'm also an avid gamer, spending time with favorites like League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Halo, and Overwatch. I enjoy staying updated with the latest tech, experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, and exploring new places whenever possible. Music is a constant companion, and I've even started making my kombucha. Always up for new adventures and experiences!

Movies/TV Show:  I’m a massive fan of movies and TV shows! On the movie front, I love all the Marvel films, the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts series, and the heartwarming Inside Out. I’m also into The Deliverance, 365 Days, Alien, the fun Super Mario Movie, Tarot, Talk to Me, all the Fifty Shades of Grey movies, Dune, Lucy, and Pan’s Labyrinth. When it comes to TV shows, I’m hooked on The Bear, The Boys, Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte, Evil, Kaos, You, Stranger Things, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Umbrella Academy, Rick and Morty, Emily in Paris, A Discovery of Witches, Mayfair Witches, and Elite. Always excited to dive into a new binge-worthy series or film!"

Biggest non-EM accomplishment: I'm proud of several achievements outside of medicine. I won a raffle drawing for donating plasma to help with my cousin’s medical bills for osteosarcoma.

Favorite Food: I have a diverse range of favorite foods I love! I’m a big fan of all Creole and Cajun dishes

If not EM (not medicine): Imagine if I weren’t in the medical field—I’d dive headfirst into the culinary world and chase the dream of becoming a Michelin-starred chef! 

Random fact: During medical school, I rescued two wonderful dogs, Nyla, a Shepherd/Husky mix, and Mia, a Shepherd/Doberman mix. Nyla was found in a pound in Orange, Texas, and Mia was rescued from Baton Rouge, Louisiana—both originally from Orange, Texas.
