Crozer residents teach high schoolers how to suture
May 4, 2024Our PD’s 50th birthday
June 7, 2024Besides our monthly QA conference (f.k.a “M&M”), today our graduating seniors each made a presentation. This is a relatively new tradition at Crozer, that started last year, when then seniors gave a presentation on how they remember their residency training and what memorable moments they want to emphasize. To everyone’s surprise it was a huge hit! People talked about it for months.
So we collectively decided to make it an annual event. The seniors made a presentation, where they remember fun moments throughout their training, great cases, events that stuck in memory, words of wisdom for the juniors and of course a bunch of great photos and jokes. This post invites you to “visit” our today’s conference and enjoy it as we did.
The national database match computer at ACGME in 2021 had a glitch or something, and gave us all-male class. We had joked about it constantly throughout these years. But, hey, these guys were totally badass and we are so lucky to have them for the whole 3 years!
First, of course, are the photos of our QA drivers: PD Dr. Mark Saks and a senior resident Dr. Greg Robinson. QA is a highly regarded educational tool, when we all get a chance to go over the past cases, discuss what went wrong and what could be done about it, and learn from our cases.
During our conferences we always celebrate our residents’ accomplishments. Today we recognized Dr. Dennis Ostick, who performed an LP on a patient, and CSF did not have a single RBC in it! In medicine we call it “a champaign tap”. Traditionally, a resident who performed a champaign tap is rewarded with a bottle of champaign by an attending who supervised the case. Great job, Dennis!
And finally, our senior presentations!

So today we re-lived their residency with them laughing and remembering the sweet moments together. It’s sad to see how little time we have left before they part their ways. Each class stays in our heart forever!
