Last week our residents participated in an annual event that Crozer sponsors. Twelve-graders from Delaware County Technical High School came over to our Crozer Sim Lab to learn the basics of suturing.

While it is a second nature for EM and Ob/Gyn residents, you can imagine the excitement for high school students, when they learn how to hold the needle driver and select the right suture size.

Our EM residents were teaching them simple interrupted sutures, which are used most commonly in ED, while Ob/Gyn residents preferred continuous sutures, which they use in OR.

Overall it was an exciting event for both parties, as one party learned a new skill, and another party experienced the rewarding feeling of teaching.
